Brine Shrimp (Artemia salina)
Brine Shrimp, also called fairy shrimp and sea monkeys, are tiny- about 1cm or 1/4'' to 1/3''. These organisms are found in salt ponds and saline lakes.
When the brine shrimp eggs hatch, the newborns, called nauplius, are about the size of a pin end, making them excellent for those juvenile
fish that are ready to move on from
Microworms and Vinegar Eels to larger food. It takes 3 to 6 weeks for the shrimp to reach full maturity,
at which time they make a superior live fish food for your larger adult aquarium friends. Let us tell you if you don't
already know: Fish absolutely LOVE live food such as Brine Shrimp and Flightless Fruit Flies.
